Achanak
Bhangra ology
The band has now secured distributorship for most recent release- Bhangra-ology which was released to much acclaim in November 07. Distributors such as Central (Australia), Ventilador(Spain) and Universal in Japan are already on board.
The band were also the first to have their music licensed to an interactive game. The launch of the innovative X360 console was coupled with the launch of the popular Project Gotham Racing 3 upon which the tracks were licensed. Bhangra music was now reaching new markets.
Since their showcase in Womex 2002, the band has secured representation with agents in:
- Italy (Frame Events)
- El Espiritu (Spain)
- Frusion (UK)
- Rainer Zellner (Germany)
The band has toured extensively throughout Europe including the US, Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia and Tokyo - Japan. During this time they have collected many awards including the best band in 2002, best live act in 98 and 99 and each of their bhangra releases has charted and sold in excess of 45,000 units with in the UK. The band and its label is now targeting the wider world music market and a promotional copy of the live show has been included.
India
The band will now see its music licensed in India which will now take UK bhangra to potentially the biggest music market in the world.
There are exciting times ahead for both Achanak and UK bhangra music.
